Located between Charleston and Columbia, SC is the city of Bamberg. Even though the population of this small town is less than 4,000 people, there are big things happening there this summer! The Cornerstone team is a proud supporter of the Ricky Sapp Foundation, a group working to bring support to the youths of this community, through various outreach programs, specifically a football and cheerleading camp that the foundation will host for the town this July 11th.
Former NFL player Ricky Sapp is from Bamberg, and explains why this cause means so much to him. “Bamberg is my hometown,” he relates. “This is where I’m from and I always knew that I needed to come back to my hometown and do something for the kids. For me, that is what it’s all about- going home and doing something very special for the kids of my community.”
July 11, 2020 is the big day when the foundation will present the “Dream Big, Live Big Football and Cheerleading camp” followed by a kickball game and then a big cookout for the community!
The camp will begin at 9 am at the Ness Sports Complex. 133 Ness Drive, Bamberg, SC 29003. The lunch and kickball game will begin around noon. Camp participants are asked to arrive by 8:30 am. The camps are being taught by Former NFL football players and an NFL All-Star Cheerleader.
The best part? Everything is free! Including the food provided for the kids participating in the camp, and the community cookout that will follow.
Awards will be given to the kids, as well as a T-shirt, wristband, and bookbag for each participant.
How can you support this initiative and give back to the community? Well currently, by donating to the Ricky Sapp Foundation, you’re supporting the cost involved in putting on this camp and community event. Any extra proceeds will go right back to the foundation to continue their mission of encouraging youths to make positive changes in their lives.
